An IME, simply stated, is a second opinion by evaluation of medical records as well as a physical examination. A medical expert renders an informed and objective opinion based on the physical examination of the individual and detailed personal history taken at the examination as well as reviewing all medical records, diagnostics, and other investigative materials presented. The medical expert details the findings and expert opinions in a thorough narrative report, which is submitted to the requesting party.
